Introducing Rev Luke Bacon
Hi, I’m Luke and I’m married to Becci. We have two daughters, Mary and Charis. I was adopted at about a week old and am hugely grateful that my parents faithfully modelled to me what it was to love Jesus and to love people. I made a personal commitment to follow Jesus at about 5 years old and even then was passionate about telling anyone who would listen about the transforming and healing power of God’s love.
I was born in the UK but spent most of my formative years in Botswana until we relocated back to the UK when I was 14. I found myself finishing off my secondary education in Tunbridge Wells and despite my initial misgivings Tunbridge Wells became and remains a significant place for me. It is where I spent the next decade and a half of my life, was given countless opportunities to develop my gifts and passions, where Becci and I met and got married and where I began the process of exploring whether I was called to ordained ministry within the Church of England.
I trained for ordination at Ridley Hall in Cambridge and before that worked for a local church in Tunbridge Wells as well as working for Youth For Christ in the town. I finished at Ridley Hall in the summer of 2018 and since then have been serving as Curate at Christ Church Beckenham until joining the team here in Chatham.
I love playing and watching most sports, but football and golf would have to be my favourites. I enjoy making music and love seeing people meet with God through sung worship but also enjoy using music to share hope and a smile beyond the walls of the church.
I am excited about starting this new season of ministry in Chatham and look forward to what the Lord has in store for His Church, for the wider community and for us as a family. We are so grateful that you could be part of this service and for your prayers at the start of this new chapter.
To God be the glory for the great things that He has done and for the things that He is yet to do.
